Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) is a development organization working to improve the lives of tribal, rural and urban poor in Orissa.

CYSD helps communities plan and initiate development measures in their areas; provides training and other skill-building support to development organizations and practitioners; and conducts research and advocacy activities to influence policies in favour of the poor constitute the major pursuits of the centre. CYSD is guided by a vision of social development that emphasizes peoples’ ability to reshape their lives through cooperative initiatives at the community level.  It works in partnership with poor and marginalized groups/communities including tribal groups, marginal farmers and urban slum dwellers etc.

Community empowerment, livelihood promotion, local self-governance, micro-finance and entrepreneurship development, primary education, health, gender equity, disaster preparedness and organization development are among the Centre’s concerns. The Centre is part of several global alliances including Social Watch, Transparency International and CIVICUS, working to strengthen citizenry and civil society action across the world.

OneWorld South Asia facilitates on-line and offline platforms for amplifying grassroots voices solutions through building digital content in text, multimedia, audio and video; provides help-desk on knowledge management and other information based services, knowledge sharing and knowledge networking among partners, and assisting partners’ in managing their information/knowledge needs.

OWSA and CYSD have undertaken a strategic partnership based on the principle that Communications could greatly leverage ongoing efforts towards their respective mission and vision in a world where communities make their own choices and lead a sustainable life with dignity. The partnership started with OneWorld South Asia providing support and capacity to CYSD in developing a new web site using Ek Duniya Content Management System. Further, CYSD will seek support to design their Knowledge Management process and expand their community-based communication and outreach, mostly through community radio. PUBLIC AFFAIRS CENTRE (PAC) is a non-profit organization that primarily focuses on areas where the public can play a proactive role in improving governance. It undertakes and supports research into public policy, disseminates research findings, facilitates citizen action groups and provides advisory services to different organisations. (Main PHASE) HIV/AID is a network of five organizations to learn on ways of addressing the issue of HIV and AID through education. OXFAM NOVIB promotes it. CYSD is the convener of this network. WADA NA TODO ABHIYAN (WNTA) ensures that the concerns and aspirations of Dalits, Adivasis, Nomadic Tribes, Women, Children, Youth to mainstreamed the programs, policies and development goals of the central and state governments. The specific objectives of enabling are Right to Livelihood, Health and Education. They focus on social action, policy audits and advocacy. Public awareness and action on the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the Right to Education Bill, "Nine Is Mine" campaign for the allocation of 9% of the GDP to Health and Education, as promised in the National Common Minimum Program, Civil Society Reviews of the National Common Minimum Program.
