The migrant support service centre was envisaged as a comprehensive initiative in the context of strengthening social security, accessing to entitlements and facilitating employment opportunities. The objectives of the project was to make available a comprehensive database in which migrants information and supportive services related to their welfare are navigated at GP level; Strengthen access to social protection schemes and access to entitlement measures, work with local government to increase their reach and response to the migrants focusing on women and children; Employment promotion through skill building and prior recognition of learning with emphasis on youths; and ensure that children are registered and have birth registration certificates.
The intervention “Migration Support Service Centre” was piloted in selected two blocks (Kolnara block in Rayagada and Mathili block in Malkanagiri), covering twenty distressed migration GPs (10 GPs from each block) in Odisha.
